Study Package for NTSE for Class X (Tata McGraw Hill)

This is a must-have book for any NTSE aspirant. This book gives the exact scoped exposure and preparation towards the exam, though it alone is not enough.

In the exam, there are 2 parts of the exam and the same pattern in stages 1 and 2.
– SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) consisting of subjects, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, social studies (History, civics, and geography).
MAT (Mental Aptitude Test) consisting of verbal and non-verbal abilities with the following topics reasoning and critical thinking, analogy, classification, numerical series, pattern perception, hidden figure.

To crack this exam on both levels, it is important that take up at least 2 (but preferably 3) subjects of SAT that student completes the NCERT (or respective state) course from 8th to 12th class. Delve into the JEE Main and advanced stuff will be overkill (and also very taxing). For the rest of the subjects, complete knowledge till class 10th is required.

For MAT, one needs to work on the book of RS Aggarwal (A Modern Approach to Verbal & Non-Verbal Reasoning). This book has questions from basic to advanced and prepares one for exams after 10+2+3 level, but this will give good exposure to MAT exam, and then around a year before 1st stage of the exam, one needs to switch to the McGraw Hill book, so that one remains in scope of the exam.

Biology, Mathematics and Logical reasoning are a must from this book.

For better understanding and confidence, one can pick up 1st stage papers from various states of previous years, available on different forums. Like https://www.examrace.com/NTSE/NTSE-Previous-Years-Papers/NTSE-Stage-I-Uttar-Pradesh/ https://www.amansmathsblogs.com/ntse-previous-year-question-papers-with-answer-keys-madhya-pradesh/ https://ntse.fiitjee.com/NTSE-Paper-1920.aspx https://www.resonance.ac.in/answer-key-solutions/NTSE/2019-20/Stage-1/Answer-Key-Solution.aspx https://www.resonance.ac.in/answer-key-solutions/NTSE/2017-18/Stage-2/Answer-Key-Solution.aspx

I would also like to recommend Resonance DLP for NTSE http://www.dlpd.resonance.ac.in/Courses/NTSE-Study-Material-Online-Test-series.aspx . Dedicated study of this package will reap right results.

Practice of previous years papers approach would work for the 2nd stage exam too.

It is more important that one understand the areas where the error occurs and corrects his understanding so that one does not repeat his mistakes.

This book gives practice papers that are specified in the scope of the NTSE exam, neither less nor more.

One should not be looking at the monetary benefits of the NTSE exam, but the prestige it carries is immense and it is a feather on the cap for life.
